ACS Technologies Partners with Surpass Software to offer library solutions

Florence, SC, July 18, 2007—ACS Technologies has partnered with Surpass Software, respected provider of automated library solutions for more than 20 years, to offer an even broader array of software solutions to the faith-based community.

As a result of this relationship, the companies have developed two software bundles targeted to ACS Technologies clients to create and maintain automated library systems in their churches and schools. By automating their libraries, these organizations can improve the efficiency of cataloging, circulation, and administration.

“Surpass is a full-featured library automation product created by a company that knows and understands libraries,” says Surpass Software president of sales and marketing Jarrett Volzer. “With over 2,000 libraries automated, Surpass knows and understands the unique needs of each library type, including church libraries and school libraries, and has continually improved their library automation product line to meet those needs.”

The two new software bundles will cater to single users and networked users. Both bundles include Surpass Software’s successful Surpass CL product, which features cataloging with Internet functionality, barcoding, and reporting, among other time-saving features. The bundles also include Surpass CL Safari, a product that allows patrons to search materials by title, author, subject, keyword, and category.

Cal Moreau, school suite product manager at ACS Technologies, said, “While Surpass Software has been installed in a variety of library types—from school districts to public libraries—it is flexible enough for our clients that want to grow a library ministry or establish a school library.”

The Surpass products comply with library industry standards such as MARC (Machine-Readable Cataloging) and can exchange member and patron data with ACS products.

Moreau added, “The fact that Surpass is developing using the same technology we use allows us to plan for even tighter integration in the future.”

ACS Technologies has recommended Surpass products in the past; however, with this new relationship, ACS Technologies clients will be able to purchase Surpass Software products directly from their ACS Technologies sales representative.

Volzer said, “Because the products work well together, it made sense to take this to the next level and arrange for Surpass to be carried directly by ACS.”

He concluded, “The end result is that ACS clients end up with ‘best of breed’ software in both administrative software and library software, each from a company specializing in their own area.”
