FLORENCE, SC, July 31, 2007—More people than ever attended the annual ACS Technologies National Convention in Chattanooga, Tenn., this year, making it the largest gathering of its kind in the industry with a record-setting 843 clients from 371 churches and organizations across the country.
The 2007 convention, held May 16–18, marked the 20th since its inception in 1987 when 160 clients assembled at First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Ga.
Each year since then, ACS Technologies has continued to provide this opportunity for clients to network with peers and meet ACS Technologies employees to learn, train, experience new products, and share ideas.
This year’s convention, held at the Chattanooga Convention Center, featured an unprecedented 262 classes during the three-day period, delivering more education, assistance and ideas than at any other time in the function’s 20-year history. Classes included 29 new subjects such as Managing Small Groups in Access ACS, Database Maintenance, Donations and Receipts and Super-sized Solutions (Strategies and Tools for Large Churches).
Stephanie Hughs, a director of children’s ministries said, “I enjoyed meeting the staff of ACS and gained some fabulous skills as a result of the training.”
Fourteen new class tracks were introduced this year, designed to take attendees through a series of linked classes and training sessions that would provide a solid knowledge of topics ranging from Implementing a Volunteer Ministry to Web-based Solutions to Protecting God’s Children.
Eugene Williams, an adult community groups pastor said, “I greatly enjoyed the conference. It was great to find out how versatile ACS's software is.”
At hand to keep attendees abreast of the classes and events was a Cyber Café that could be used for checking schedules or surfing the Web.
In addition, ACS Technologies provided numerous entertainment options, including an evening dinner cruise on the Tennessee River, a murder mystery dinner theater show, a trip to the Tennessee Aquarium, a karaoke evening, and a luncheon banquet featuring comedy dueling piano entertainers Michael and Amy.
Edward Bryan, senior accountant/controller at Jubilee Christian Church International, commented, “The experience has been educating, captivating, motivating and entertaining. As a result, we plan on bringing more staff next year so that our entire team will be fully equipped with the knowledge of ACS capabilities and resources.”
Next year’s ACS Technologies convention will be held May 14–16 in Houston, Texas, where clients will take advantage of new classes, tracks, and fun events. The year marks the company’s 30th anniversary.
