Matthew 7:21, 24 - 27
Get Ready
Do you know the will of the Father in heaven? It’s an odd question to consider when there are just over three weeks left until Christmas, with at least a thousand things to do and no time for any of it.
Maybe that’s why it’s included in today’s Gospel. Our faith has to be built on something substantial, and we have to be able to weather the winds of persecution. Getting caught up in the doing can keep us from focusing on the being. We can spend so much time and energy getting ready that when the blessed event finally comes, there’s nothing left of us to give.
We need a good foundation, and Advent is a great time to work on building that. If you haven’t been able to find five minutes a day this week to pray, try scheduling five minutes today. If you haven’t been able to calm yourself, try turning off all the alerts and going to sit with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
This week, Jesus is inviting us to pause and get ready. The rest will wait. In fact, He will wait too. Ask yourself: Is it worth it to make Him wait any longer?
Daily Prayer
Jesus, create a clean heart in me. Guide me closer to you and let my time be a gift today.
Peace Be With You
Where there are loneliness and sadness, God’s peace is coming. And so, during Advent, we boldly recognize all places where our world is not peaceful. Take a moment and reflect on the reading below.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matthew 5:9
