Creating a New Realm Member Account Just Got Easier

Realm Sign up

You’ve spoken and we’ve listened. You want an easier process for your congregants to sign up and log in to Realm. We’ve made some updates that will make creating a Realm account smoother for those new to your church’s Realm Community. So let’s answer some questions to better explain the simplified process.

How do I invite those in my congregation to join our Realm Community?

As a Realm Admin, you will see a Links & QR Codes option under Communications in the left menu. There you will find Link to Realm which shows you a link you can copy and paste onto your website, and a QR code you can right-click on and save to include in printed materials to lead people to your Realm login page.

What happens when someone new to Realm clicks the link or follows the QR code?

Your Realm login page displays your church logo at the top. Here, you’ll see Sign In and Sign Up options, as well as Give Online (if you use Realm Online Giving). Those wishing to give online can do so with or without a Realm login. Those new to Realm should choose the Sign Up option, where they will input their email address, name, birthday, and preferred phone number.

Once they submit their information, they will receive an email verification that directs them to click the Verify link which opens the Create a Password page. Once they enter a password, they can Create Account. You’ll notice we’ve added a page to encourage new Realm users to download our Connect mobile app once they’ve created their account.

What if we are using the closed model of Realm?

If you’re using the closed model where your Realm Admin must approve those being added into your Realm Community, your admin can view new account requests on the Tasks page when they first log in to Realm or on the Overview Dashboard. Simply click on the ellipsis to the right of one of the requests and choose to Approve or Decline. Once approved, the congregant will receive an Account Request Approved email with a link to complete their registration by entering a password.

If you decline an account request, you will see the option to send an email explaining why the request was declined.

What happens if someone requests to join but already has a Realm account?

When you get an approval request, you will see an extra option, Audit and Approve, when Realm recognizes a possible duplicate. Here, you can view any profiles Realm thinks maybe a duplicate and choose to merge the profiles and send the request approval, or create a new profile if it isn’t truly a duplicate.

What if someone downloads the Realm Connect app without a Realm account?

When they download the Realm Connect app and click Sign Up, the app will open their camera and ask them to scan a QR Code. We encourage you to add the QR code to your bulletin or pew cards so new visitors can easily register for your Realm Community. If the person doesn’t see a QR code to scan, the app directs them to ask their administrator for an invite.

We hope these new enhancements will make it easier for your members to join your Realm Community. If you’re new to Realm or just want to remind people about your Realm Community, be sure to check out our Launch Rollout Kit for free resources you can share with your church.
