Making the Most of your Fall Festival

Fall temperatures create great opportunities for a fall festival. By the time fall comes around, families have settled back into the school routine and are looking for fun things to do around town. A few google searches can give you more ideas for fall festivals than you can count.

We’ve compiled a short list below. But first, here are a few guidelines to make any activity you choose succeed.

Define your purpose. Are you reaching your community or teaching your church? If you’re trying to reach your community, make your event fun, safe, and non-threatening. If you’re trying to teach your church, build your event around a Bible theme or concept you’d like them to learn.

Decide on your team. Working together to complete a task builds relationships and develops ownership within your church. Let them plan and implement the event. Coach your team if they’re young or inexperienced, but consult your team if they’re more mature.

Determine your processes. The event you choose will determine the process you need to see it through. The size of your space and number of your supplies may create a need for people to register by using Realm’s Check-in feature. If the event requires many volunteers, you may need to recruit, coordinate, and communicate with the larger team in Realm.

Develop your promotions. Obviously, people won’t come if they don’t know about your event. You may create flyers or invite cards for people to hand out, but don’t forget about the power of social media. Post the event on your church’s page, encourage your leaders to share the post, and boost your ad to a targeted audience.
