Making the Most of Mother’s Day

God gives mothers to our churches, and we should recognize who they are and what they do. Let them know how much they mean to you and your congregation. Churches should be sensitive to their people during this day of celebration.

Here are 6 quick tips to make sure you’re making the most of Mother’s Day.

Follow Jesus’ lead

Jesus loved His mom. He took time to take care for her while dying on the cross. He was never too busy for His mom, and we shouldn’t be either.

Say, “Thank You”

Being a mom is hard work. The hours are long and the pay isn’t great. Thank each woman for the good she does everyday.

Include every woman

Every woman is not a mom.  Some don’t have kids, some can’t have kids, and some are trying to have them. Be sensitive to your people and recognize every lady.

Keep it simple

Gifts don’t have to be expensive to be meaningful. A single flower for every woman goes a long way.

Involve kids

Let your children honor their mothers. Video a few of them saying thanks to mom to show on your screen. This works for little kids and adult kids too. You can have your children’s ministry complete a simple craft for the special women in their lives.

Make room for families

People have plans on Mother’s Day.  Don’t over plan on Mother’s Day.  Don’t schedule any extra meetings or events that force women to choose between their church and their family.
