This week we are going to our Human Resources department to introduce you to Rachel. She is a Principal HR Generalist specializing in payroll and benefits. Rachel has been an ACS Technologies® team member since 2008.
She resides in Florence with her family and pet plant, Vineous, a philodendron. She was born in Farmington, Missouri where her dad was in his first pastorate. For her first year in college, Rachel attended Welch College. She ended up having to come home because she was bitten by a brown recluse spider on her face. She then attended Florence Darlington Technical College and majored in Accounting. Her top personal goal in life is to be a productive member of society, live within her means, travel the world, and spend time with those she loves most. On Saturdays, she goes to our local farmer’s market to pick up their weekly share of vegetables from Ellerbe Farm. Before COVID they enjoyed taking trips to visit family and friends as well as going to concerts.
Let’s check out what her typical workday looks like, why she loves working at ACST, and her driving passion for the church.
What does a typical day look like at ACST for you?
My typical workday varies a lot. No day is really the same, which is what I like most about HR. Things that I do on a regular basis are:
- Manage the on-site clinic: making sure that Kerri, our on-site nurse practitioner, has what she needs and isn’t too overwhelmed, etc.
- Working on benefits: this can include processing the billing, answering questions for employees as well as helping them get the most out of their benefits.
- Manage the leaves: anytime someone is out on a medical leave of absence, I stay in touch with them and ensure that their benefits are working properly.
What do you love most about working at ACST?
I love being able to help my team members by answering questions about benefits (mostly) and if they have trouble with a claim, etc, I can work directly with our insurance carriers and get any issues resolved. To sum it up – helping our team!
What is your driving passion for the Church?
I grew up as a pastor’s kid. My dad passed away in 2002, so now I see ACST, serving our staff so they can serve those that are the Church, as my ministry.
Being an ACS Technologies Team Member means being part of a family that works hard, plays hard, and always has your back. We love the church! Our passion is to enable churches of all sizes and shapes to build the Kingdom. We are always looking for just the right person to join our team to help us do this even better.
