Why Your Church Website Simply Must be Mobile-Friendly

According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, nearly half of American adults are smartphone owners. And 55% of all cell phone owners use their phones to go online. But get this: 77% of those users say they experience slow download speeds that prevent things from loading as quickly as they would like. There could be a number of reasons for these download issues, but sometimes, the problem arises because the sites aren’t mobile-friendly.
Let’s look at why it’s so important that your church website is optimized for mobile:
Imagine this: I’m grabbing lunch on a weekday. While I wait for my sandwich to arrive at the table, I pick up my smartphone and think about a church my friend recently told me about. Hey! It’s your church. I drop the church name into a search and find your church website easily. (Nice work on your SEO)
If you’re optimized for mobile, I can browse your site, find out where you are, and see a cool event that’s coming up later in the week – all of this in just a few minutes. I’ll make a note to myself to drop by – or even click the event and add it to my calendar. Easy!
If your site’s not optimized for the web, I may wait for the page to load. I may use my fingers to try to reposition the page so I can read the content. But if my sandwich arrives before I can find out about your cool event, you may have lost me. It’s that simple.
