Counter the consumer mentality.
Keep who you’ve got by giving people a meaningful way to connect with each other and stay connected to your church.
“If current trends in the belief systems and practices of the younger generation continue, in ten years, church attendance will be half the size it is today.”
— Revolution by George Barna, Tyndale House Publishers
Engage everyone in your ministry.
Communicate what's going on.
Make sure people know what's happening, when, and where. You can publish events to a shared church calendar, post announcements to the mobile app, and push notifications directly to the mobile devices of people in your church.
Build deeper connections.
Fellowship is a key component of maintaining a healthy church, but it's hard to connect with people in passing on Sunday morning. Give your church family a way to stay connected, communicate, and grow together.
Give people something to do.
People are less likely to fade away when they can actively contribute, make a difference, and change lives. Put people's time and talents to good use, and give everyone a way to contribute to the mission of your church.
Spot the faders.
Know before they go. Customize the involvement metrics that matter to your church, and then use the built-in dashboards to give you specific data about the overall engagement of people in your church. It doesn't need to be a mystery.
Facilitate meaningful relationships.
No matter what size a church is, if you're new, it can be intimidating to meet new people. Groups are a great way to shrink the setting down and allow people to connect on a more personal level. Sometimes all it takes is a small nudge to get people connecting.
Celebrate spiritual milestones.
Make sure people understand that you are taking an active role in their spiritual journey. We don't track data for statistics. We track things like sacraments because we want to know what events have shaped their faith and how we can celebrate with them.
It's not just young people.
“Christianity’s decline in the U.S. spans every population segment – young and old, male and female, within every race, at all income and educational levels, and in every geographic region.”
— Larry Barnett, Next Generation Project (2016)
