History

Impact Church of Jacksonville was founded in 1996 and initially had 12 members. The leadership and congregation set a  goal of spreading the word of God across seven cities in Florida, known as the Impact 7 & Beyond Initiatives which generated partnerships with 11 other churches. Today, Impact Church of Jacksonville has over 3,000 weekly attendees.

Challenge

As the Impact Church of Jacksonville’s congregation grew, they needed a church management system with a cleaner interface that could save them time so they could focus on their real mission: equipping people to grow in Christ.

That’s when they turned to Realm.

Solution

Having smoother transitions between features and fewer steps to complete tasks made a big difference for Manch and his team.

“The tool is not the focus of the ministry,” says Manch Kersee, Director of Finance. “Because it just works, it shows that Realm’s really helping. Our team can focus on what they’re doing, serving and doing their work and ministry.”

“Realm cut down a lot of time so I could redirect some of my resources,” Manch says. “We weren’t bogged down anymore with doing data entry.”

In addition to having a better user experience for staff as they work individually, Realm has also improved their overall communication and interaction across the team.

“Realm has solved our organizational and cross-departmental communication issues,” Manch says. “The integration of congregant needs, giving records, and small groups has been key. We’re able to consolidate our processing, our management in Realm. Realm has made a big difference in our strategy and how we’re going to expand our ministry.”

With a tool they don’t have to spend time stressing about, the team at Impact Church of Jacksonville has more time and resources they can use to reach their community for Jesus.

Walnut Hill Community Church

History

Walnut Hill was founded in 1981 by seven couples who attended bible study together. Their vision was to create a church that welcomed people of all backgrounds, could raise up the next generation and share the Good news of Jesus in their community and around the world.

Challenge

Walnut Hill Community Church spent years using multiple systems to keep track of everything going on in their church. While their systems all synced together, they still had issues with duplicate data, needing to repeat work, and having information siloed and inaccessible.

The ministry team at Walnut Hill Community Church needed something that would keep everything they had in a single location. Something that would eliminate the wasted time and effort and keep people from falling through the cracks.

Solution

That’s when they turned to Realm.

“Realm is a one-stop shop,” says Sandi Miller, Database Administrator. “Everything is in one place and things are connected. It makes it easier to keep the data out of silos. It has the registrations, it has the profiles, the groups, the attendance, everything.”

For a church with over 2,000 people in attendance each week, having all of their data in one place made it easier to connect with people. Seeing the ability to stay organized and keep track of all of the people coming in and out of the church helped get the entire team onboard with using Realm to do ministry.

“Pathways in general has been a real help just for the running of the business of the church,” Sandi says. “They are my number one thing that has actually helped us in doing ministry, because everybody on staff uses Pathways for something.”

Since launching Realm, the ministry team at Walnut Hill has created over 80 Pathways and have more than 1,000 individuals following a Pathway. Being able to keep track of members’ discipleship journeys in the same place they track giving, groups, events, and more has made a huge difference in the way they do ministry.

Center Grove Baptist church

History

From its humble beginnings more than 100 years ago, Center Grove Baptist Church in Clemmons, NC, has always focused on the importance of community in worshipping God. A small group of cotton and tobacco farmers came together in the spring of 1914, pooled their resources and built their first chapel by hand. During the last 25 years, Center Grove has exploded in attendance, with about 1200 people worshipping together every Sunday. Long having outgrown that first small worship center, Center Grove built a larger church down the road. Since 2006, the church has had a deliberate outward focus to “become a church that the community could not ignore and could not imagine being without because … [they] … made such a positive difference in the lives of people in the name of Jesus.”

Challenge

Even though Center Grove Baptist Church is a thriving church more than 100 years old, effective communication, authentic connection, and meaningful community among members and staff have been strained. Having relied on Facebook as a primary means of communication and a manual spreadsheet for tracking visitor engagement and new member assimilation, church leaders needed a more streamlined, efficient, centralized, and accessible tool that would ultimately create increased member involvement and retention. Since COVID, the efforts to restructure and reestablish community are more urgent now than ever.

Solution

Through Realm’s Pathways, new members at Center Grove Baptist Church are now intentionally shepherded through a process to become integrated into the congregation. Fewer people fall through the cracks as they get plugged into small groups and connected with others through fellowship and discipleship. Realm makes tasks easier, efficient, and accessible for staff and volunteers, which leads to membership growth and retention.

Leaders are using the Groups management feature in Realm to breathe new life into their small group ministry as they move forward with plans for expansion and reorganization, bringing more opportunities for community to their members.

History

Plainfield Christ Church in Plainfield, IN was founded in 1829 by 17 men and women who built a cabin for worship. Today, Plainfield Christian Church has a mission focus with member-led ministries and strategic partnerships with Gospel-focused organizations that extend the reach of the church into the heart of the community and around the world.

Challenge

When Jill Stout first came to Plainfield Christian Church in April 2018, she immediately saw a need for change.

As the financial secretary, she and several others would spend hours every week processing the checks and cash they’d received during their services the day before.

“When I first came to my church, we had a team of seven people that met at the bank every Monday that did the giving deposit,” Jill says. “Every week, it took us 15 hours.”

Solution

Just before Jill joined the team, Plainfield Christian Church switched to a new system: Realm. Now, with the integrated accounting and giving modules coupled with check scanning capabilities, Plainfield Christian Church could drastically change what their giving processing looked like.

The switch to Realm was not only a time and labor saver for Jill and Plainfield Christian Church, but also gave them a stronger sense of security and integrity within their giving process.Jill believes the investment in Realm and its compatible check scanner has more than paid for itself with both the tangible and intangible benefits Plainfield Christian Church has received.

St. Stephen Baptist Church

History

Founded in 1926, St. Stephen Baptist has grown from the group of 14 worshippers it began with to nearly 3,000 weekly attendees across 3 campuses.

Challenge

With events happening nearly every day, St. Stephen Baptist Church needed a tool to communicate effectively with their congregation.

Solution

St. Stephen Baptist began working with ACS Technologies as an Access ACS user in the ‘80s and made the transition to Realm a few years ago when they discovered the necessity of a user-friendly communications tool.

“We’re able to send out mass communications,” says David Birch, print media services director. “Our groups have been able to communicate with each other. Realm has just been a great communication tool.”

Already established in Realm when the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, St. Stephen Baptist quickly saw the benefits of the communications tools they had.

“We have been instructed in the Bible several times, not to try to do life on our own because that is the one sheer way that Satan gets a foothold on us,” David says. “So, realizing that, it has been our goal to communicate, especially during this pandemic, and reach out to everybody. It’s been crucial to make sure that we’ve remained in contact with people.”

While emails and phone calls have been essential to staying connected with their large congregation, St. Stephen Baptist has also taken advantage of the Realm Shepherd and Realm Connect mobile apps.

“For the staff, Realm Shepherd has been a godsend,” David says. “For the membership as a whole, Realm Connect has been a godsend because it allows people to know what’s coming up because we’ve been guardedly cautious about how we re-enter our physical spaces.”

Realm’s communications features haven’t been limited to staff and congregants, though. St. Stephen’s lay leadership, including their deacons, have been able to use Realm to do ministry.

“Realm is a communication tool for the deacons for a family ministry planning, and for our auxiliary administrators, it becomes a communication tool for them to experience what’s going on in the church,” David says.

St. Stephen Baptist continues to change lives, strengthen families, and transform the community in the Louisville area and keeps every believer connected to the Body of Christ through Realm.

Columbia Baptist church

History

Columbia Baptist Church was founded in 1856 by a group of 7 abolitionists, both men and women who wanted to establish a church in support of the newly freed slaves, even when abolition was illegal. They began in a small community and as years passed, the church continued growing eventually developing numerous programs dedicated to cultivating their community. The programs’ goals range from teaching multiple languages, to child development, and worldwide mission trips. Believing strongly in the power of opportunities, their mission is to ignite passion for Jesus Christ from metro Washington to the World.

Challenge

With such a large and diverse group of church members to cater to, Columbia Baptist Church needed a way to keep everyone united and steadily outreaching into their community. Placing a strong emphasis on serving their community, they needed a way to more easily group and communicate among the congregation so that they could branch out and benefit the common good of their community. With two campuses and a weekly attendance of more than 1,000 each Sunday, they wanted to enhance their communication skills within the church so they could maintain a healthy presence, not only in the community, but inside the church, too.

Solution

Realm enabled Columbia Baptist Church to organize their staff in ways they hadn’t been able to before. They’re now able to create groups within the app that help them sort through each church organization and create a place for the members to communicate and share information about upcoming events, prayer requests, church curriculum. The staff at Columbia Baptist Church no longer worries about email distribution lists, or keeping up with correct contact information for their members, because the members are now able to update personal information on their own. Realm opened an entirely new avenue for connection and communication for everyone at Columbia Baptist Church.

History

Newman Catholic Community is a church with a unique style, since it operates as a full Parish and campus ministry center for students at UNC Chapel Hill. Their mission is to spread the word of Jesus Christ and establish faith throughout their community, which includes students, alumni, parents, faculty, and parishioners, through spiritual work and outreach. They always work to find ways that could better serve and reach their entire community both young and young at heart.

Challenge

With Newman Catholic Community Church being a dual-purposed facility, it can be hard effectively serving all of their congregants and achieving unity. Being such a large and diverse church, they knew a tool that could allow them a way to keep growing and fundraising would be vital, in serving their student parish. Newman Catholic Community wanted to find a way that would keep each member, no matter their age, connected and also to find a process to manage the church’s data smoothly.

Solution

Since being introduced to Realm, Newman Catholic Community realized the quality of their data has improved along with the ease of access to information. Members of the church can log into Realm and edit their own information, which is not only quicker, but helps the administration team significantly. Realm also makes fundraising and managing events almost effortless for Newman Catholic Community. They use groups to join groups to make it easier to reach and communicate their goals; they’re able to see how many tickets they have available within the app, too. They have everything they need all in one place. Realm has granted Newman Catholic Community a ministry tool to engage with each other and remain visible to each other, even in such a large church.

History

First United Methodist Church of Orlando has been a major presence in their community since the 1800’s when there were circuit riders who rode horses throughout rural areas of the South to minister their religious beliefs and morals. In time, believers joined together and began having regular church services. They started small but have now expanded into a grand sanctuary that includes an Early Learning and Family Center that serves their congregation and community. They abide by the plan to make not only their community thrive, but their city, too. Their vision is to seek and love God and to love and serve people.

Challenge

After years of using software that could only help them sort their data, the pastors of the church realized they were not reaching their full potential of ministry. They needed a database that had the power to sift through and manage data but also to connect them to their community and congregation. For years they were only equipped with a tool that helped them do accounting, but now they wanted a way to communicate among groups and track attendance without having to manage a multitude of software programs.

Solution

The switch to Realm offered First United Methodist of Orlando a way to be more accessible to anyone who needs them. Each member is now able to fellowship with each other outside of the church and share their experiences from community care gatherings. Features like Pathways assist them in keeping up with their visits to different areas in the community in addition to welcoming new church members. Realm created a new opportunity for the church to more easily reach out into the community and effect development, while simultaneously giving the members a newfound closeness to each other.

Grace Baptist Fellowship

History

Grace Baptist Fellowship is a church whose roots were based on being a church plant, moving from facility to facility for 11years, until recently when they acquired a permanent location. Their mission has always been to reach souls and build lives, so settling into a new sanctuary and pairing up with Realm was a perfect combination for them. They’re devoted to ministering to the unchurched as well as ministering and growing their own congregation. Outreach events and building unity within their community are highly held things at Grace Baptist Fellowship.

Challenge

Being unable to communicate and share announcements effectively outside of social media for so long left the church behind on the connecting curve. Members would often feel out of the loop for upcoming events, and staff members were not getting the extra help they needed to effectively minister within the community. They needed a way to connect the dots between their existing members, who needed an easier way to keep up with one another and those who were interested in joining the church.

Solution

Realm created an entirely new method of socializing for the church. They were able to migrate into using specific features, like Groups, that helped them immediately as they created a group for each ministry group, upcoming events, and announcements. Realm empowers them with a way to effectively communicate and encourage each other while connecting with their members in their now-permanent locaion.

First Baptist Concord

History

First Baptist Concord has a long-running history of serving, starting all the way back in 1891. They have fully embedded themselves into their community, creating multiple Christian schools on their campus, a family life center, and a performing arts academy. On top of those opportunities, First Baptist Concord provides numerous care ministries such as counseling and motherhood support groups. They pride themselves in being a blended church with congregants of al generations from infant to senior. Their whole mission is to glorify God and make disciples by inspiring people to follow Jesus.

Challenge

To fulfill their mission, First Baptist Concord sought to free themselves of the older, less versatile software and systems they had been working with. Previous programs felt more like data tools instead of ministry instruments. With aspirations to continue reaching more of their community outside of the church, they knew it was time for a fresh idea. Leaders knew it could be a task to get such a large congregation connected without any help. In order to effect a change within the church’s communication and efforts to outreach, they knew they would have to find a new database that could not only store data but also give them features for connecting their members and visitors.

Solution

Realm sparked a new excitement in First Baptist Concord by giving them a way to directly reach each other, connect with their groups, and handle ministry needs, even outside of the church walls. Through Realm, they found a standard process to use for handling guest follow-ups. Pathways opened a door for them to keep track of new members of the church as well as new staff. Their entire way of guest service grew in efficiency and made it simpler for the staff while also being beneficial for the new members. Church leaders are more secure in making sure no person slips through the cracks and that they feel personally cared for, which is important for a church of their size.
