Rebuilt: Conversation with Tom Corcoran and Stephanie Downes

Rebuilt: Conversation

Rebuilt has become a national ministry through the faith and dedication of the leaders from Church of the Nativity in Timonium, MD,  What started as a plan to inspire and renew parishioners in one parish is now being lived as outreach to others. “Rebuilt is intended to impact parishes across the country and around the world,” says Tom Corcoran, President of Rebuilt, “Rebuilt is set up as a separate organization to allow us to communicate this reach.”

Corcoran, along with Fr Michael White, pastor of Church of the Nativity, published Rebuilt: Awakening the Faithful, Reaching the Lost and Making Church Matter in 2013. Since then, they have refined their ministry based on what they have learned from their first steps. They have published several other books, including Rebuilt Field Guide: Ten Steps to Getting Started, Tools for Rebuilding, and Seriously, God? Making Sense of Life Not Making Sense. The books are one resource available through Rebuilt, which offers a broad array of content for parishes, along with a weekly educational webinar.

“The ministry grew organically out of the need to walk alongside a parish,” says Stephanie Downes, Director of Client Engagement, “we find that the principles we use here to grow our church are absolutely transferable to other churches in any cultural setting.”

The Rebuilt team also incorporates accountability and responsibility into their practice. So they emphasize identifying how to see if ministry is having an impact. Tom Corcoran views numbers as people. Church of the Nativity uses its systems to track actions they attribute to levels of engagement and discipleship, which they use to identify which ministries to prioritize and explore new ideas for ministry. They also use the information to know when to reach out to a parishioner personally.

ACS Technologies is teaming up with Rebuilt so our coaches can set up parishes for success, with the information they need to inform their ministry. The software is configured to support and enable stewardship and evangelization efforts, and personalized ministry along with how to report on progress. Join the Rebuilt conversation…
