As we start the third week of Advent, Rejoice, we are Lighting the Way for Joy! We’ve created this Advent series to help you prepare for Christmas.
The third Sunday of Advent is Gaudete Sunday. It is a turning point in our preparations, and we recognize it with a rose-colored candle on the Advent wreath. In week three, we are Lighting the Way for Joy! Each day we will share devotions, prayers, music, and activities for the entire family to prepare for this Advent season.
We hope you’ll follow along and participate in all the Advent activities. Here are just a few activities for this week:
Advent Wreath

Prepare for week three with a prayer for lighting the Advent candles:
Lord God, may we, your people, who look forward to the birthday of Christ, experience the joy of salvation and celebrate that feast with love and thanksgiving. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Open your favorite music app and search for “Advent playlist” to make the season part of your day. Or take a look at our Advent playlist and other recommended playlists for this week.
Act of Kindness
This is the season to bake your favorite cookies. Why not share them with a neighbor as your act of kindness? We’ve provided you with a recipe for one of our favorites!
Family Activities
Take your pick of two activities for week three, or do both! One involves “Stars of the Night” and stargazing. The other is for families with children. Printable placements that the whole family can color and enjoy!
Reading Prep
What better way to prepare yourself during Advent than to review the 4th Sunday of Advent readings? Sit quietly and reflect on the Readings and Gospel for Sunday. Involve your entire family in discussing its meaning.
Tasty Idea
Closeout the third week of Advent with an Adventurous Advent Cocktail! Whether you prepare the version with or without alcohol, it is the perfect drink to sip as we start the last week of Advent.
