Uncovering how to use Technology to be a More Relational Church: Katie Herzing Describes How

“I have focused the past four years on helping parishes and dioceses effectively implement change. We need to reach out to people, and technology is one of the ways we can do it,” says Katie Herzing, Pastorate Consultant.

Herzing knew she wanted to work in Church ministry from the time she encountered Christ in high school when she attended World Youth Day. Her subsequent work in youth ministry through office manager roles at her parish helped her to understand that the Church needs to find new ways to invite people into a relationship and engage them in our parishes.

The relational aspect of our parishes is important to fostering trust and community. Technology can help. Rather than replacing our in-person relationships, our software systems can facilitate connections so that parish leaders can accelerate the number of people we can welcome and accompany, and no one falls “through the cracks.”

Herzing offers us examples of why we should collect information, including visitors, attendance in faith formation classes, events, and other activities, and describes how parishes are doing this today using MinistryPlatform from ACST Catholic. Listen to the conversation to hear more!
