Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce honors ACS Technologies owner with the esteemed award.
Florence, S.C., September 26, 2022 – ACS Technologies is honored to announce that The Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce named James Marvin Owen its 2022 Business Person of the Year.
Owen is one of the owners of ACS Technologies. He is president emeritus and chairman of the ACS Technologies Board of Directors. He has dedicated 39 years of service to the clients of ACS and its employees.
Owen said he didn’t earn this honor alone. He expressed that this award reflects the hard work and dedication of all of ACST’s nearly 400 employees.
Owen took to the podium last Wednesday to accept, saying, “Wow. Wow … I am deeply humbled and honored by this recognition. This is totally unexpected,” he said. “We serve churches. That was our original vision. What a blessed career being able to do that with this group of people.”
ACS Technologies is the technology of choice for some 20,000 churches across the nation. Owen feels like that success put Florence, S.C., on the map. “People all over the country know about Florence through ACS,” he said.
The company has many accolades to its credit, including being named one of the Best Places to Work in South Carolina by the State Chamber of Commerce. Still, more importantly, it has employees with longevity singing Owen’s praises, like Bonnie McCuen, “I have worked at ACS for 35 years,” she said. “He is a gentle yet creative leader.”
Owen admits they questioned whether a company like theirs could last in Florence. He said they went to a workshop where the speaker said you needed a city with 40,000 people and a local college to succeed. Owen felt Florence was a fit. It’s proven that it’s a perfect fit.
Amber Sellers, commercial relationship manager of Wells Fargo, put it best. She said Owen has a servant’s heart and has demonstrated that many times through his dedication and support of the Florence community.
